How We Can Help

From short term problem analysis and solution to long term project management from conceptual design to startup, we deliver results on time and within budget.

In the current economic environment, ineffective project management can mean the difference between success and failure.  Careful review throughout the project can prevent rework - from engineering time in design to costly change orders during the construction phase.  Our process knowledge and experience can keep the team focused on both short and long term goals.

Industrial problems can decimate the bottom line. We understand the urgency in a manufacturing environment and the need to quickly get cost-effective solutions in place.  We can also help to develop performance indicators to alert you before a problem reappears.

  • Expert Witness Services

We are able to assist attorneys as Expert Witnesses for Process Design, Process Commissioning/Startup, and many other aspects of Chemical and Environmental Engineering.  Dr. Dackson, Mr. Green, and Ms. Gaspar each have over 25 years experience over a wide variety of topics throughout the Chemical Industries, Environmental and Permitting Issues, and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) practices.

  • Project Management

Our experience covers projects in the range of $5,000 to $15 million.  Project scope can range from initial concept development through feasibility studies, preliminary design, HAZOP analysis, equipment selection or specification, budget development, project execution, training, commissioning and startup.

  • Analytical Problem Solving

Have a process or manufacturing issue?  We can help!  Time tested methods for getting to the root cause of the problem, solution development, implementation, and tracking.  In most cases, we can assist in extending the solution to give "early warning" of potential recurrance.

  • Analytical Testing Services

We now have access to a analytical testing lab, including GC/MS, SEM/EDS, GPC, TMA and FTIR.  Please check out the full range of available tests.

  • PDH Opportunities

Our offerings for the Summer 2010 Continuing Education Professional Development Hours (PDH) are now available at our on-line store.  We are a Nationally Registered Continuing Education Provider (RCEP).

Courses are offered as classroom instruction and live webinars.  Either way, PDH earned through Aurora Analytics and our association with RCEP, are accepted for PE Continuing Education requirements, depending upon any specific state requirements.

  • Design of Experiments/Statistical Analysis

We can assist your staff in applying Design of Experiments that can give you insight for optimizing processes, formulations, or gaining insight into difficult quality issues.  In addition, we can also do the analysis to help draw statistically valid conclusions.

We help you find creative solutions to difficult problems.  Some examples are:

  • Customer requested that a design package deadline be advanced 6 weeks.  No additional resources were available.  After determining the reason for the request, we rearranged the work so that the customer's critical needs were delivered for the requested deadline, while the lower priority items were allowed a longer delivery than stated in the initial contract.  All work was completed by the newly negotiated delivery dates.
  • A manufacturer was having persistent difficulty meeting quality specifications over a 6 month period, resulting in the scrapping of 12% of the material.  The problem analysis showed that a minor difference missed in the scale-up process was the cause of the off-spec material.  A solution was found within 1 week; once implemented, the reject rate immediately dropped to less than 1% and was maintained at that level over the next 6 month period.
  • A small capital project was budgeted without regard to removing and reinstalling utilities in a hazardous area (Class 1, Div. 1).  We were able to complete the project 2 weeks early with an overage of $800 on a $80,000 project.  The extra production was worth an additional $100,000 in sales.
  • Design of experiments was used in a batch reactor system to develop response surfaces to predict polymer quality based on catalyst specification and a critical reactor operating parameter.  The results were successfully applied to a 30,000 lb/hr operating plant.
